Syzdekistan runs on WordPress, which is a blogging system that runs in PHP and has a MySQL database on the backend. I have a hosting service (BlueHost) which hosts Syzdekistan. I use Bluehost’s software to install WordPress and to install updates. Back in January, I updated to version 2.05 which was a fairly easy process. All the blog postings and comments were saved, however, I lost all of the modifications that I had done to my WordPress installation over the last year or so. Unfortunately, I was very bad about documenting the changes that I made over that long period of time and I am still in the process of figuring what I need to change and how to do it. The stuff I am doing in PHP is very simple— but I basically have to figure it out from scratch. I immediately made some of the changes like reinstalling the banner picture but other changes I have been too busy to do yet. So if Syzdekistan looks a little strange to you, do not adjust your browser. It is probably just me mucking through some code (and documenting the changes as I go along). Thanks for your patience.
