Your knife incident reminds me of the time, about 20 years ago I got a cordless screwdriver and was demonstrating it to my David, oldest son...I was stupidly running a screw for some reason into the end of a stick...the screw slipped off the stick and into my palm.   The mindless tool diligently screwed the screw into the meat of my palm.   Cleverly, I reversed the screw and unscrewed it from my palm.   Then I went for the wife and band aids, using pressure to staunch the bleeding.   I still have the scar.
