I successfully ran the San Francisco Marathon today! My goal was to finish and I finished under my own power with a time of 6:05:53. It was a lot of fun with a lot of camaraderie amongst the runners especially within the group of stragglers in the back. Highlights include: running across the Golden Gate Bridge (twice) in a soaking foggy drizzle, being cheered on a first name basis (our names were on the bibs) with cowbells and horns, seeing a guy run the marathon barefoot in a French maid outfit, and seeing another guy run the marathon in a Roman centurion costume with full armor and the helmet with a big brush on it.
I’m feeling pretty good. It hurts a bit to walk and going up or down stars really hurts. I have two nasty blisters on my index toes and my left knee is pretty sore. My cold is much better but my ears are still plugged up and I’ve still got a bit of a cough.
Hot Wife had a trying day trying to hopscotch around the course to see me. She missed me at every turn because I was running quite a bit slower than I anticipated. We also had some trouble meeting after the race and she finally found me flat on my back getting a much needed massage in the massage tent.
Overall, it was an extraordinary experience. I’ll post some pictures soon. I’d like to thank everyone for their support and encouragement.

Congrats, Dave. Sorry for late post, but I was cleaning up old e-stuff and…well, U probably know my idol, the god of procrastination — what’s the name?
Anyway, glad to see U made it. See ya.

[...] can also see that my last run was 7/29/07 which was the San Francisco Marathon. No, I really didn’t actually run for 31.82 miles. My Nike unit was not calibrated correctly [...]
