I watched over 10 minutes of the Oscars last night (a personal record) and Flowing Data linked to this great New York Times interactive graphic of box office receipts over time. Height show weekly box office revenue and the width is the length of time. It’s very cool to play with and see how different movies’ receipts change over time. It’s calculus in motion.
Also, a personal record, is that I have actually seen several of the movies that won or were nominated for Oscars. No Country for Old Men was probably the best movie I’ve seen in several years and had the creepiest, most evil villain since Hannibal Lector. Some other recent that I also really enjoyed were Juno, Sweeney Todd, Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum. Another personal, indoor record!
