Record Dry April

April 30th, 2008 · No Comments

It was dry over the entire region in April. From the National Weather Service:

April 2008 ties for the driest on record at several locations… Rain gauges across much of the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert have soaked up more sunshine than precipitation this past month. A dry pattern has prevailed throughout April allowing for records for a lack of precipitation to be tied at several locations in the area. Although a few hours are left before the month comes to a close… it is highly unlikely any precipitation will fall at any of the sites listed below in the time remaining.

At McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas… no precipitation was recorded during the month of April. This ties the record for the driest April on record also set in 1962… 1996 and 2002.
