Precipitation totals from Saturday…

Another round of scattered showers developed across parts of the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert Saturday. This activity was associated with several smaller disturbances that rotated around an upper level low that was located along the coast of northern California. Once again precipitation was hit and miss in nature and thus amounts varied greatly. This marked the second day in a row that measurable precipitation has fallen at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. The last time there has been two consecutive days in a row with measurable precipitation at McCarran International Airport was back on November 30th and December 1st of 2007. Remember that measurable precipitation is defined as at least 0.01 inch or more of liquid precipitation.

As a side note… the high temperature at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas has not cracked 70 degrees for the last 2 days. The high Friday reached only 67 degrees and on Saturday it reached just 65 degrees. There are only two other instances in the record books for Las Vegas where there has been consecutive days with highs in the 60s this late in the season… may 24th and 25th of 1996 and may 28th and 29th of 1971. Official weather records for Las Vegas date back to 1937.
