Another Warm June in a Decade of Warm Junes

From the National Weather Service:

June 2008 ties for the sixth warmest June on record at Las Vegas…

The average monthly temperature at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas for the month of June 2008 was 88.7 degrees. This tied with June 2000 for the sixth warmest June on record in Las Vegas. Official weather records for Las Vegas date back to 1937.

The warmest Junes on record in Las Vegas are…

1. 2006… avg. Temp was 90.5 degrees
2. 1994… avg. Temp was 90.3 degrees
3. 2007… avg. Temp was 89.5 degrees
4. 1974… avg. Temp was 89.1 degrees
5. 1981… avg. Temp was 88.8 degrees
6. 2000 and 2008… avg. Temp of 88.7 degrees ***
7. 2002 and 2004… avg. Temp was 88.1 degrees
8. 1977… avg. Temp was 88.0 degrees
9. 2001 and 2003… avg. Temp was 87.9 degrees

Note that since 2000… every June except for 2005 has been among the warmest on record at Las Vegas.

    And I thought we had it hot here in Tampa! My friend was in Vegas the past few days and told me it was 106 yesterday.. yikes! I hope it will be cooler when I visit in October;)
