I just want to say thanks and good luck to my intern, Cheska, who has been doing a great job keeping me out of trouble for the last two years. Cheska is beginning her career as a biology teacher and will eventually be moving to upstate New York. Cheska is extremely smart and very patient. These two attributes will serve her well in her teaching career. They served her well working with me!
Anyway, her enthusiasm for all kinds of field work antics and her excellent photography skills (seen here taking an extreme close up of a desert woodrat (Neotoma lepida)) will be missed.
Goodbye and good luck, Cheska!
PS Her fiancé got me a sweatshirt with picture of an LC-130 from McMurdo Station, Antarctica. Coolest. Gift. Ever.

As you can see, obviously since I’m able to type this, I survived my first day! Let’s just say it’s going to be very interesting these next few weeks!!
