I greatly appreciate your posting this. I think folks should watch “The Longest Day,” “Saving Private Ryan”, “Band of Brothers” or read about the heroes of all our wars, from the Revolutionary to the current Global War on Terror, who, together with their families, didn’t shirk their responsibilities and gave so much. We all can learn so much from their service.
Although he survived Vietnam, the story of AF Col Bud Day offers some great insights into the mindset of American war heroes. His biography “American Patriot : The Life and Wars Of Colonel Bud Day” by Robert Coram, has some interesting comments by the author about how his view of warriors changed after he met Bud Day.
